This 1996 “main-gate” guide map, sponsored by Kodak, provides a comprehensive overview of the park’s attraction, dining, and shopping offerings, as well as a rundown of basic guest-service information.
The publication provides a glimpse of the park in its fifteenth year of operation. Some interesting content notes for this red-trimmed, 1/21-1/27/96 version include the beginning (1/22) of the months-long closure of Universe of Energy for the major refurbishment that would transform the opening-day attraction into Ellen’s Energy Adventure. Similarly, as noted in the interior, World of Motion, another opening-day attraction, had closed just three weeks prior (1/2) for a nineteen-month overhaul that would bring the thrill ride Test Track to the transportation-themed pavilion. Construction, however, was halted numerous times for various complications and delays in the engineering and technology of the attraction, and it would not welcome guests officially until March 17, 1999 (more than three years after the initial closure).
