This Fall 1989 “main-gate” guide book and map, sponsored by Kodak, was one of the very first distributed to guests at Disney-MGM Studios (which had opened only a few months prior). The guide provides a comprehensive overview of the attraction, dining, and shopping offerings available in the park’s first half-year of operation.

The gray-covered guide is fronted by a photo of Disney’s own Chinese Theatre, home to one of the Studios’ five major opening-day attractions, The Great Movie Ride. No significant updates were made to the previous guide, save the cover photo, which formerly featured Mickey Mouse in a director’s chair, rather than a troupe of performers, outside the theatre. (NOTE: Even though the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular had not technically opened as of the last guide’s printing, it had still been listed).
