This souvenir transfer-decal by Color-Brite features Mickey Mouse fronting the park’s “D” logo and was purchased at Disneyland in the summer of 1962.
Displaying Walt’s most famous animated character creation, the decal reads, “Walt Disney’s Disneyland,” and includes the Walt Disney Productions copyright at bottom left. The reverse side provides instructions for use.
This particular souvenir’s purchase dates to the night of June 8, 1962, and the “Douglas Family Fun Fest,” a private corporate event sponsored by the Douglas Aircraft Company, which took place between the hours of 8 p.m. and midnight.
A fun and inexpensive souvenir from the park’s first decade, the decal also provides a good example of the 50s-60s-version Mickey Mouse, whose look and style continues to evolve to this day.
