This unique WWII-era sheet music features artwork, music, and lyrics from the 1943 Walt Disney animated short “Der Fuehrer’s Face.” As indicated on the title page, the cartoon was produced under the working title “Donald Duck in Nutzi Land,” but was rebranded after the immense popularity of Spike Jones’ recording of Oliver Wallace’s title track. The music was published ahead of the short’s release in 1942 by Southern Music Publishing Co. Inc. (NYC), and only pre-release versions include the reference to the film’s original title. In addition to the front cover’s Hitler caricature (receiving a tomato in the eye from Donald’s hand), the back sports a Disney-created WWII insignia featuring Donald, alongside Mickey, Pluto, and the Three Little Pigs. The short itself, which follows Donald through a Nazi-inspired nightmare sequence, won the 1943 Academy Award for Best Animated Short, the catchy tune figuring prominently into the action of the film.
